INDIANAPOLIS — In honor of Pride Month, rideshare app, Lyft, announced its partnership with Indy Pride to raise $10,000 for Indiana's first transitional housing for LGBTQ youth, Trinity Haven.

The 'Indy Pride Share' program will give $1 for every Lyft rideshare during June to benefit the newly created home for LGBTQ youth at risk for homelessness.

"Lyft is pleased to partner with Indy Pride to provide financial assistance to help some of our community's most vulnerable young people – our LGBTQ youth," Cebronica Luft, market manager for Lyft of Central Indiana, said.

"By choosing Lyft, our 'pride share' patrons can help us raise $10,000 to benefit LGBTQ youth who do not have a supporting family or stable living situation," Luft said. "Trinity Haven can use these critical funds to provide special care and services to meet their needs while our patrons can also enjoy a special promo code."

Additionally, Lyft has provided a promo code for every Central Indiana Lyft rider — "TRINITYHAVEN" — for a ten percent discount, which can be redeemed up to four times during June. Then, $1 for each of those rides will be donated back to Trinity Haven, as well.

Jenni White, Trinity Haven's executive director, stated that because of their sexual orientation, nearly 70 percent of LGBTQ homeless youth is rejected by their families.

"Contributions made possible by such programs as Lyft's 'Pride-Share' will enable us to intervene before our youth experience chronic homelessness," White said. "No LGBTQ youth should ever have to spend the night on a park bench or under a bridge ever again. We are so thankful for Lyft and for the incredible support of Indy Pride."

Indy Pride appreciates the partnership with Lyft as well.

"Lyft has strongly supported the LGBTQ+ Community in years past, and continues that tradition by recognizing the work of Trinity Haven," Chris Handberg, executive director of Indy Pride, said.

Trinity Haven serves the ages of 16 to 21 for up to two years. The transitional home supports their youth as they pursue their education and develop the skills of independent living.
