MADISON COUNTY, Ind. -- The Madison County Courthouse was evacuated Friday morning after a threat was made against the building.
A dispatcher with the county said the evacuation was ordered via the loudspeakers of the building around 9 a.m. after a call was made to the courthouse stating there was a bomb inside.
Employees and others inside the building safely and calmly evacuated the building, staging approximately a block and a half away, according to police.
The IT administrator with the courthouse said she believes authorities were able to get a phone number of the caller, and are working that angle to pursue who the threat came from.
The building remained vacant for approximately 2 and a half hours until authorities were able to sweep it completely. They found no explosives and everyone has returned to the courthouse.
