MARTINSVILLE, Ind. – Following several complaints by Martinsville bus drivers last week about “unsafe” routes, the school district implemented changes Wednesday.
Martinsville’s original bus routes returned almost a week following the concern.
With more than 5,000 students attending school in the district, drivers said last week’s routes kept students on the buses longer.
“It’s the fact that we went from routes that were a half an hour to an hour if not more for these kids,” Brandy Arthur previously told RTV6. “You were on a road by yourself at one point in time, and now we’re crossing paths with other buses.”
This is the first school year where Martinsville has provided bus service to children who previously walked to school.
Drivers said they appreciate the changes the district has made.
