INDIANAPOLIS—A U.S. Postal Service mail delivery truck was heavily damaged after it caught fire on the Indianapolis northwest side, Wednesday afternoon.
The van came to rest on West 30th Street just east of Georgetown Road, not far from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Indianapolis Postal Service Spokesperson Mary Dando said the truck was working out of the Rainbow Station branch post office at West 16th Street and North Tibbs Avenue. The Zip Code there is 46222.
The van appeared to be full of mail, but how much of it was damaged by fire is under investigation, according to Dando.
She says residents and businesses in the 46222 Zip Code will receive information from the Postal Service about the fire.
If you live in the 46222 area and believe you have not received important mail, such as a utility bill, contact the sender.
