KOKOMO, Ind. -- A Kokomo man has been arrested after police say he brutally beat another man with a baseball bat during a robbery. That victim later died from his injuries.

Trevor Bean, 37, is charged with murder and robbery.

Officers were called to the home on South Webster early Saturday morning after a caregiver had shown up at the home and found the victim, Paul Andreas, had been severely beaten.

Police say the victim had a severe head injury and there was blood splattered all over the room.

According to court documents, Andreas told police that "Trevor Bean" had attacked him with a baseball bat and stole his cell phone and $2,300.

Andreas was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Kokomo where he later died from his injuries.

The caretaker told police that he arrived at the home around 1 a.m. and that's when he found the victim who told him that "Trevor" had beaten him and robbed him, according to court documents.

When police arrived at the suspects home, they spoke to his mother who told them that he was not there. The mother also told police that her son had a heroin problem. Police collected several pieces of evidence from the home that were covered in "red stains."

Police located Bean Saturday afternoon, he was arrested and charged with murder and robbery.

The incident remains under investigation by Kokomo police.
