INDIANAPOLIS — A man convicted in a 2018 Indianapolis murder is going to prison for 78-years.

Geovany Diaz was found guilty last month in the death of Jesse Harris, who was shot during a robbery. He was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County Criminal Court.

According to the Marion County Prosecutor, Harris and another man went to an apartment complex to meet Diaz. But when they arrived, Diaz got into the backseat of their vehicle, pulled out a gun and demanded their belongings. During a struggle, Harris was shot four times and the other man was seriously wounded.

Diaz took the phones and wallets of both victims. He was arrested after going to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

In December, jurors found Diaz guilty of Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery Resulting in Bodily Injury, Armed Robbery, and Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon.
