KOKOMO — Police in Kokomo are investigating after a man was found dead inside a home that caught fire while police were already responding for a welfare check on Friday.

Kokomo Police Department officers were called to the home in the 1800 block of Columbus Boulevard around 3 p.m. to do a welfare check on Michael Vore, 31. While police were on the way, neighbors called to report that the home was on fire.

The Kokomo Fire Department also responded to the scene and found the home fully engulfed in flames. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters located Vore's body inside the home.

An autopsy was conducted on Sunday and Vore's identity was confirmed by dental records.

Vore's cause and manner of death is still under investigation, pending toxicology and lab testing.

At this time, Vore's death remains under investigation. If you have any information contact Detective Richard Benzinger at 765-456-7324.
