Man found on west side considered natural death

INDIANAPOLIS -- One man was found dead in a van on the west side of Indianapolis Friday morning.

Police were called at around 4 a.m. to a report of an unconscious person near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Washington Street, just west of the Indianapolis Zoo.

When they arrived, they found a man dead in the van in an alley near the intersection. 

Police originally believed the vehicle was involved in a crash, but have since been calling it a death investigation.

A wrecker was called to the scene around 5:40 a.m.

Around 11 a.m., a police spokesperson said the death is considered to be a natural one. The person had a medical issue that caused his death.
