INDIANAPOLIS—Trial is underway for the suspect in the murder of a man whose body was found in a dumpster.

According to the Marion County Coroner, 35-year-old Jose Garcia-Lopez died of blunt force trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds.

His body was found inside a dumpster at the Spanish Oaks Apartments near East 38th Street and North Mitthoeffer Road in February of 2017.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says DNA evidence connected 50-year-old David Rojas to the killing.

Residents of the apartment complex noticed blood outside the dumpster and called police.

The murder was not random, according to police.

The suspect and victim knew each other.

Rojas' trial is expected to last a few days.
