Man pronounced dead after water rescue from France Park

LOGANSPORT — A Francisville, Indiana man has died after being rescued from France Park Waterfall by conservation officers in Logansport on Thursday.

First responders were dispatched to the area of France Park at approximately 5:15 p.m. on a man that had been pulled from the water. That man has come to be identified as 48-year-old Ignacio Sanchez Juares.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources reports that witnesses saw Juares run into the water from the beach, swim a short distance and then he disappeared under water. Multiple bystanders are said to have gone into the water in search of Juares. Once located, he was pulled on to shore and CPR was performed until EMS arrived.

The 48-year-old was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital where he was then flown to Park View Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne under critical condition.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., Juares was pronounced dead.

At this time, it is still unknown why Juares jumped into the water.

Toxicology results are still pending.
