INDIANAPOLIS -- A man rescued from a tree Wednesday afternoon marked the 18th person rescued from water by the Indianapolis Fire Department in 19 days.
The man's kayak overturned in Mud Creek near Sargent Road just north of 86th Street just before 4:30 p.m.
When they arrived they found the 21-year-old man had climbed a tree in the middle of the creek and perched on one of the branches while he waited for his rescue.
Crews were able to safely get to the man and bring him to shore. He was later checked out by medics and released.
