INDIANAPOLIS – A man ran to the nearest fire station after his home was in flames and he couldn’t reach 911 dispatchers early Saturday morning.
Levy Garcia, who was renting a duplex on Indy’s east side, woke up when he heard noises coming from the vacant side of the house at 71 N. Keystone Avenue around 4:30 a.m.
He said he smelled smoke and immediately walked out of the front door to find the home on fire.
Garcia called 911, but he said he was unable to get through to dispatchers, so he ran to fire station No. 11 for help.
We don't know why he was not able to get through to 911 dispatchers.
Indianapolis firefighters and additional fire companies were needed.
