INDIANAPOLIS — A 35-year-old Pendleton man will go to prison for 58-years for a 2018 murder in Lawrence that police were at a loss to understand.
Richard Chambers was sentenced Thursday in Marion County Criminal Court.
In a bench trial earlier this year, Chambers was found guilty of murder by Judge Mark Stoner.
In March of last year, 41-year-old Brad McKinney or Mooresville went to the Lawrence home of a man he knew to purchase a drone.
Richard Chambers was a guest in the home at the time.
For reasons that were never clear, Lawrence police say Chambers shot McKinney in the head as the transaction was being completed.
Chambers ran from the scene, but a Lawrence police officer who was in the area and heard two gunshots was able to track Chambers down and make an arrest.
