INDIANAPOLIS -- South side Kroger shoppers tackled and held a suspect accused of stealing a woman's purse and one of them was stabbed in the process.
Indianapolis police said the stabbing occurred around 8 p.m. at the Kroger in the Southern Plaza shopping center on East Street.
A woman reportedly ran into the store yelling that her purse had been stolen. Several shoppers then ran outside and tackled the alleged purse thief.
Police said the suspect stabbed one of the men holding him several times, leaving him in serious condition.
The remaining customers held the suspect down until police arrived and took him into custody.
The suspect and victim have not yet been identified.
