INDIANAPOLIS -- The popularity of the ice bucket challenge hit its peak a couple of years ago, but it probably wasn't ever done with an ice cold bucket of... milk?
Larry Kaplan is traveling the country, trying to resurface the trendy challenge in which people post videos of themselves having a bucket of ice water dumped on top of them to spread awareness and support research for a cure to ALS, a progressive degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Kaplan is choosing a unique way to do the challenge in all 50 states he's going to, and on his 13th stop Saturday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he honored a local Indy 500 tradition by choosing a big ole' bucket of milk to be dumped on top of him in front of the IMS Museum.
You can watch the video below (fast forward to the 4 minute mark to see the bucket get dumped on his head):

Kaplan, a longtime ALS Association volunteer, seeks to raise $100,000 for ALS research as part of his journey, with the mantra that "Every drop counts."
Some of the other ideas he's had for other states are a bucket of orange juice in Florida, salmon in Alaska and glaze from donuts in Michigan.
