SHADELAND — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train late Sunday in Tippecanoe County.
According to a report from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of Henry Street in Shadeland. The sheriff's office received a call from the Norfolk and Southern Police Department reporting a pedestrian struck by a train.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office identified the victim as Joshua N. Cook, 42, of Lafayette. An autopsy has been scheduled.
Deputies said Cook was walking in between rails and attempted to clear the tracks at the time of being struck.
The incident remains under investigation.
