BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- An Indiana University student was arrested Thursday night after he ran on the field to celebrate Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta's no-hitter in Cincinnati.

Dylan Cressy, 22, jumped a rail and outran an officer to onto the field to celebrate with the team as they huddled around Arrieta, but was promptly removed by a Cincinnati police officer, according to his father who posted to Facebook about the incident.

Cressy's father, Michael, said Dylan got so far as to pat the pitcher on the head.

Dylan was charged with criminal trespass, and his father, who spoke with the Chicago Tribune about the incident, said he was "proud" once he found out what the arrest was for.

"It took some guts," he told the Tribune.

Michael Cressy said he and his son have been Cubs fans their whole lives. He said his son and a friend drove from Bloomington to see the game.

It was Arrieta's second no-hitter in just 11 appearances as the Cubs beat the Reds 16-0.
