INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man who admitted to rape and criminal confinement is going to prison for 34-years.
Maurice Nelson was sentenced Friday.
In July of 2016, Nelson abducted a woman, tied her up and kept her in the basement of hisIndianapolis home where he also raped her.
After four-days, the victim was able to scream loud enough for neighbors to hear her and call police.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry says the woman was visiting Nelson's home in the 4500 block of North Norwaldo when he pepper-sprayed her, handcuffed her and forced her into the basement.
There, her legs were shackled to a bolt in the floor and a chain was padlocked around her neck and connected to a support pole.
In January, Nelson pleaded guilty to rape and criminal confinement.
After serving his prison time, Nelson will be on sex offender probation for six-years.
