INDIANAPOLIS -- A Marion County Sheriff's Deputy has shared a touching a video of a letter he wrote to fallen Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz.
"Dear Deputy Koontz, you don't know who I am, but I feel as though I should write this quick letter. My name is Joshua Shrum, I'm a sheriff's deputy with Marion County Sheriff's Office, and have been so for the past three years. I want you to know, that you sir, are a hero," he says.

Shrum said he hopes the video will be something Koontz's son can look at.
"I hope that the video is going to be able to portray something that maybe his son can look back at and say, 'That's my dad,'" Shrum said.
