While the Fourth of July is meant to be a celebration, if you celebrate outside the law, you could be in hot water with police.

It's early, but Marion County has issued a warning about fireworks safety.

For starters, you have to be at least 18 years old to buy fireworks. Someone 18 or older must be present when fireworks are being set off.

You can light up fireworks between 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset between June 28 and July 3.

On July 4, you can shoot off fireworks between 10 a.m. and midnight.

But during July 5-9, the hours go back to between 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset.

If you violate any of these restrictions, there are fines of up to $2,500 for repeat offenders.

So celebrate safely and within the restrictions Marion County has set out.
