INDIANAPOLIS -- A player on Ben Davis High School’s state championship basketball teams in the 1990’s is back at the school, as head coach of the boys' varsity team.
The Wayne Township School Board approved Don Carlisle, 39, for the coaching job and as a special education teacher.
Ben Davis has been searching for a coach since Mark James left the school earlier this year for Perry Meridian High School after seven seasons leading the Giants.
Carlisle spent his college years at IUPUI where he was the Jaguar’s top scorer and rebounder for three seasons.
Then it was on to an eleven-year pro career, mostly overseas. Carlisle spent the bulk of his time in France.
When he returned to the United States, Carlisle was an assistant coach at IUPUI and then head coach at Arlington Community High School for the last two seasons.
