INDIANAPOLIS -- Drivers using one Indianapolis route on the city's west side are in for a summer of detours.
The city is installing a roundabout at the intersection of Morris Street and Bridgeport Road.
It’s been a four-way stop for years, but with vehicle numbers increasing, the intersection is congested at busy times of the day.
A Department of Public Works spokesman says the roundabout should improve traffic flow.
The project is supposed to be done by the end of July, before the start of classes at nearby Bridgeport Elementary School.
While the intersection is closed, detours will be posted.
Roundabouts are common in Hamilton County and some have been built in other suburban areas, but the one at Morris and Bridgeport is only the fourth in Indianapolis.
