Two injured when suspected drunk driver hits semi head-on after going wrong way on interstate

INDIANAPOLIS-- Two people were injured when a suspected drunk driver going the wrong direction on I-70 slammed head-on into a semi on westbound I-70 early Sunday morning. 

Indiana State Police were called to the scene around 3:30 a.m. near the German Church Road overpass. 

Witnesses told state police that a man driving a Hummer was traveling the wrong direction on westbound I-70 when he slammed head-on into a Fed-Ex semi truck. 

The interstate was closed for more than 4 hours while crews reconstructed and cleaned up the accident. 

The driver of the Hummer, Moran Cucolisa Yener Oswaldo, 26, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. His passenger, Angel Jesus Tzuy Pop had to be extricated and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. 

The Fed-Ex driver was not injured. 

Oswaldo was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury. 

The crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
