INDIANAPOLIS -- The chair of Marion County's Republican Party has resigned due to Indy's new ethics rules.
Jennifer Ping resigned on Friday. A new ethics law approved by the City-County Council in April forbids anyone with city or county appointment authority from doing business with the government.
Ping is a registered lobbyist, working with Bose Public Affairs Group. The consulting business has several contracts with the city. As chair of the GOP, she also has the authority to make appointments to the Marion County Election Board.

Marion County Democratic Chairman Joel Miller will keep his political position. He told the Indianapolis Star he has canceled a contract with a client that has ties to the city.
