LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- When it was stolen from his statue two months ago, some may have wondered how Marquis de Lafayette would be able to take his horse by the reins, making Redcoats redder with blood stains without it.

Thankfully, just before the original Broadway cast of the hit musical 'Hamilton' leaves for other endeavors, the sword has been found and will return to the hand of the Tippecanoe County Courthouse statue.

On May 11, a security worker at the courthouse noticed that the stainless steel sword from the Lancelot of the Revolutionary Set was missing, even though it was bolted in place in 2008 after the statue's previous sword went missing in 2006.

The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office says the three-foot long sword was recovered at a home in Lafayette, and that information was sent to the county prosecutor's office to determine whether charges will be filed.  The sword was not damaged, and there was no immediate word on whether the person inside the house told officers to 'casse toi'.
