INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Marsh Pharmacy employees found out this week that they would not be receiving a severance package, which they were initially led to believe they were getting.
The now-former employees say they were originally given the information based on the Frequently Asked Questions sent to all Marsh Pharmacy employees the week before the pharmacies were shut down.
Call 6 Investigates obtained a copy of that FAQ.
Question eight read: “Will I get a severance package?”
And the answer: “Individual severance packages will be distributed next week.”
That was last week.
Days later, the employees were informed that they would not be receiving information on severance packages – because they weren’t getting them.
CALL 6 Investigates reached out to Marsh, which is owned by Sun Capital Partners, to find out why they sent their employees incorrect information.
Their response was one sentence: “The document was sent out in error, and we regret the confusion it caused.”
The company closed all 37 of their pharmacies for good on Friday.
The pharmacy closures are just the latest in the Marsh saga that has seen over a dozen locations closed since January with 16 more set to close by the end of May.

Before the whirlwind of closures began in January, there were over 70 Marsh Supermarkets and O’Malia Food Markets in Indiana and Ohio. After the May closures, the company will only have 44 stores still open.
Marsh has been an Indiana staple since the company opened their first store in Muncie in 1931. Their headquarters is currently in Indianapolis.
