MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- A Martinsville mother was searching for answers this week to injuries her infant daughter received.
Darian Liden says her babysitter initially told her 11-month-old Jaylee Liden was turning purple. But when a doctor saw Jaylee, it was determined marks on her face weren't from an illness.
"She texted me saying Haylee had been really sick, throwing up all day, having diarrhea all day," Liden said.
Minutes later, Liden says the sitter called saying Jaylee was turning purple.
"She told me that she laid her down at 10:30 a.m. for a nap, and that she woke up at 11:30 a.m. with bruises, or, as she said, turning purple," Liden said.
The doctor who examined Jaylee said the marks were bruises. He then called Child Protective Services.
"He said that, uh, there was really no other explanation for what was on her face," Liden said.
Liden says she doesn't know what happened to her daughter.
"Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, but she was in the care of her and she had to know something was going on," Liden said.
Liden said she and her husband will have to take a lie detector tests for investigators to determine whether they did anything wrong.
Child Protective Services said they were not permitted to comment on the investigation, and Martinsville Police and Jaylee's babysitter did not return telephone calls.
