Mom turns daughter's funny moments into book

AVON, Ind. -- An Avon stay-at-home mom decided to turn her daughter's funny moments and memories into a children's book.

Heather Chastain has two young children. Like many parents, she started posting some of the funny things her first child, Caroline, would say on her Facebook page. Then the posts took off.

"People I didn't even know were like, oh, I saw your Facebook posts you know?" Chastain said. "Because your mom or friend or whoever had shared it, and they're like, your daughter is so hilarious!"

So Chastain started jotting down funny moments, eventually creating a little series of stories called "Caroline Girls."

"A Caroline Girl is sweet, smart and kind, has a mind of her own and knows what she wants," Chastain said.

Chastain just published her first book after finding an illustrator on Twitter. She's now traveling to readings around town.

"If you have  this passion, or you have an idea that you are just like, you know, this is just something that kind of sits inside me and I think about it all the time, just do it," Chastain said.

"Caroline Girls" is available on Amazon and a number of bookstores around Central Indiana.
