MONROE COUNTY, Ind. -- A woman was killed in a house fire early Saturday morning in northern Monroe County.
The fire broke out at 8926 Lewis Lane, where 65-year-old Melissa Schmidt of Bloomington was found deceased inside the home.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating with an assist by the Northern Monroe Fire Territory.
No foul play is suspected, according to the Monroe County Coroner's Office.
Toxicology results are still pending investigators said.
