Active shooter alert triggered at IU after shots fired by robbery suspects near parking garage

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- An active shooter alert was issued early Sunday morning at Indiana University after shots were fired by robbery suspects near a campus parking garage.

University officials tweeted the alert around 1:30 a.m. and asked those on campus to stay inside and lock their doors.

Students were further instructed to take shelter in the nearest room and remain in place until further notice.

About 20 minutes later, the university tweeted that the shots were fired by robbery suspects near the Henderson Parking Garage at 3rd and Fess. There were no reports of any injuries.

The suspects were seen fleeing to the northwest from the 500 block of S. Fess Ave.

The university lifted a shelter-in-place order around 3 a.m. As of 11 a.m., no arrests had been made in the incident.
