INDIANAPOLIS — Whether you're looking for your first pet or to add to your growing crew, hundreds of dogs and cats would love to meet you later this month at the Indy Mega-Adoption Event.

Dozens of animal shelters and rescues from Indiana will be at this year's spring event which runs from June 22-23 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Those interested in adopting a new pet can visit the shelters and the recuses at the fairgrounds until 6 p.m. Saturday and from 12-6 p.m. on Sunday.

All adoptions fees start at just $30 and include spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

New this year, you can skip the line with the 'Early Bird Admission' ticket for just $25. To purchase a ticket to get in before the general public click HERE.

If you don't mind waiting in line, the event is still free to the general public and does not require a ticket for entry, although the Indiana State Fairgrounds does charge $8 for parking.

Event organizers shared some helpful information online for anyone looking to adopt during the event:

  • Each rescue group has their own adoption policies and screenings.
  • Each rescue group determines which forms of payment they accept. Many do accept credit cards, however there is an ATM inside the building if cash is their preferred payment method.
  • All rescue groups will require a valid ID to adopt a pet.
