MORGAN COUNTY — A 29-year-old Martinsville man died Wednesday morning after a grain bin collapsed in rural Morgan County.

Morgan County Sheriff Rich Myers said the collapse happened around 9 a.m. in the 9800 block of North Mann Road.

Stephen Crocker pulled his truck up and under the grain bin to load corn into his vehicle.

After he stepped out of the truck, the bin collapsed, burying Crocker in the corn and pinning him between the truck and the bin, Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Rita Reith said.

Crocker was extricated at 10 a.m., but he did not survive.

Firefighters with the Madison Township, Mooresville and Brown County fire departments initially responded to the scene, and the Indianapolis, White River and Bargersville fire departments were called to assist.

The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
