Marijuana, guns found during traffic stop in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. – Guns and marijuana were taken off the streets following a traffic stop in Martinsville, Indiana Sunday.

Officers with the Martinsville Police Department said they stopped a vehicle near the intersection of State Road 37 and Grand Valley Blvd after a male was seen waving a gun. Once the vehicle was stopped, police said they could smell marijuana and K-9 officers were called to the scene.

During the vehicle search, one pound of marijuana, two hand guns and more than $4,000 in cash was found.

The driver, Corey Powell, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, dealing and possession of marijuana, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of a schedule 4 controlled substance.

The passenger, Tyreke Young, was charged with visiting a common nuisance, dealing and possession of marijuana and possession of a schedule 4 controlled substance.
