MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- A death investigation is underway after a toddler was found dead inside a Morgan County home last week.

Sources tell Call 6 Investigates that at least four people were inside the second-floor apartment on East Highland Street Thursday night when police were called for an unresponsive child.

Morgan County Coroner Annette Butcher says 18-month-old Ariella Foster was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Butcher says Foster's cause of death remains under investigation.

At one point, Foster had been in the care of relatives who stepped in to keep her out of foster care.

"She was like my daughter and I would have fought tooth and nail for her or died for her," said Ronnie Long.

Call 6  Investigates has learned that a second child was also in the home at the time of the incident.

Police say they are waiting for toxicology results and cause of death to be determined before they take the case to the prosecutor.

No charges have been filed at this time.
