SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- An Iowa woman was left stranded in Shelbyville this week after her motorcycle was stolen from a hotel parking lot.

Lynn Meyers says she witnessed the theft from her hotel window.

"I hear my bike and I look out and I go, 'Oh my God,'" Meyers said.

Meyers is a teacher from Davenport, Iowa. She and her bike are well-traveled together, having visited almost every corner of the country.

"I wanted my goal to be that I had been in every state on my motorcycle," Meyers said.

This week, Meyers stopped in Shelbyville for the night, en route to New England to complete that goal. But her trip was stalled by the theft.

"I want the state patrol, when they are driving on the interstate, if they see this really cool-looking, antique-looking bike, to know that it's stolen," Meyers said.

Police are investigating the theft using video caught by surveillance cameras. The video shows two people in a white truck pull up next to the bike. A woman wearing a dress and what looks to be a hoodie walks inside to inquire about room rates. But, she doesn't stay long.

Just minutes later, when she gets back to the truck, another person steals the bike, and she drives off behind them.

"Make no mistake: I want these people caught," Meyers said. "I'm mad. I'm furious."

Instead of getting to her 50th state, Meyers will have to turn around in a rental car and head back to Iowa.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
