The ride took place Saturday afternoon.

Koontz was shot and killed last weekend while serving a warrant in Russiaville.

Sgt. Jordan Buckley was also shot during the incident, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Deputy Koontz leaves behind a wife and 8-month-old son. All of the proceeds raised from the motorcycle ride will benefit his family.

Participants were also asked to bring a rose or flower to place on the memorial at the Howard County Sheriff's Department.

"I talked to Carl's mother and his sister, and they were just overwhelmed with joy and understand, it's hard to understand how your heart can hurt, but be so happy all at the same time." Tom Lloyd said.

"Anytime an officer dies, it's something that's very sad and it's great to show the respect that they deserve, and all of us showing up out here is something that's really amazing," Brock French said.
