LAWRENCE, Ind. -- A man was killed Sunday night when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Lawrence.
The crash happened around 7 p.m near Pendleton Pike and Mitthoefer Road.
Kurt Lowery, 32, of Fishers, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told officers with the Lawrence Police Department that the traffic signal was red as Lowery drove through the intersection of Mitthoeffer Road and Pendleton Pike and collided with 2007 Chevy Equinox.
Lowery was wearing a helmet. No one else was injured.
This was the second fatal accident involving a motorcycle over the weekend.
Shortly before 4:30 Saturday afternoon, a motorcycle and truck collided at West South Street and Patterson Street in Lebanon.
Police say Michael Hengen, 52, of Lebanon was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis where he later died.
The driver of the truck, Tyler Cadle, 16, of Kirklin, Indiana, is stable.
Lebanon police officers say their preliminary investigation shows that Hengen failed to stop at a stop sign, and Cadle tried to stop but was unable.
The investigation into both crashes continues.
