INDIANAPOLIS — The IndyGo Red Line Rapid Transit bus is slated to debut the first week of September, and Circle City's public transit institution is seeking local musicians to help bring in the new bus line.

The Arts Council of Indianapolis, in partnership with IndyGo and Square Cat Vinyl, will review and select up to 12 performers (max of 3 persons per group) of any genre for 12-time slots starting Monday, Sept. 2 to Friday, Sept. 5. According to the Arts Council, Marion County musicians will receive selection preference.

Each selected act will receive $300 for a 60-minute set of all-original music. No covers will be permitted due to copyright restrictions.

Performers will be placed along the Red Line route, at the station, or significant bus transfer points; each spot will differ from the previous day.

There is a free and optional application workshop at Square Cat Vinyl on Wednesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., where a forum will be hosted, as well.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 2.
