Muslim group to display positive billboard

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS – A Muslim organization plans to display a billboard with a positive message in response to another billboard placed earlier this week.

The previous billboard along I-465 attacked the Prophet Muhammad and received lots of negative feedback from the Muslim community.

It featured the words "The Perfect Man” followed by a list of attributes including "rapist" and "slave owner."

The new billboard will be placed by The Muslim Alliance of Indiana, who said they received two anonymous donations that totaled $13,000. They were also given a donation from the Central Indiana Alliance Against Hate.

“Any time you are met with negativity, you always respond with a positive manner,” said Rima Shahid, executive director of The Muslim Alliance of Indiana. “We are going to have a saying of the Prophet Muhammad or a Quran verse that is very positive and uplifting and like I said, I hope it brings a smile to someone's day."

The organization hopes to have their billboard on display sometime in June.
