Nearly 1/3 of registered voters cast Ind. ballot

INDIANAPOLIS -- Out of more than 675,000 registered voters in Marion County, nearly one-third of them cast a ballot in the Indiana primary Tuesday.

The Marion County Clerk's Office said there were 675,568 registered voters in the county, and 220,870 ballots were cast.

This is a jump of nearly 100,000 voters compared to the last presidential primary. In 2012, 91,582 out of 612,352 registered voters cast a ballot.

2016 doesn't quite hit the numbers for the 2008 turnout though. In 2008, 239,450 out of 653,606 registered voters cast a ballot.
