New 12,000-square-foot facility opens to serve Indy's homeless teens

INDIANAPOLIS – Outreach, a non-profit organization serving homeless teens in the Indianapolis area, opened a new facility Monday afternoon on the city’s east side.

The center, at East New York Street and North Forest Avenue, will offer computer training classes, a clothing pantry, cooking classes and a laundry facility for teens.

Last year, Outreach served more than 400 homeless youth.

"Frankly at a time in their life when they're still making decisions about what kinds of life they're going to be able to lead and to be able to come into a beautiful 12,000-foot facility, I think it improves the opportunity to really make a difference in the quality of their life on a go forward basis at a very early age in life,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett.
