INDIANAPOLIS -- St. Vincent de Paul runs arguably the largest food pantry in the midwest, serving more than 3,000 families in need each week in central Indiana.
But that doesn't come for free. So the organization is starting Mission 27, a new thrift store in the city.
St. Vincent de Paul is hoping to start providing more nutritious food to our poor, which costs additional money.
People within the organization also run educational programs at several local parishes, aiming to break the cycle of poverty and get the needy back on their feet. .
"We'll have a ton of clothing here, for men and women, children, we'll seasonally sort it," said Jeff Blackwell, the executive director of the distribution center. "We will have some appliances, a few mattresses will be offered, we'll have a lot of furniture. We get some nice furniture."
