NOBLESVILLE — This school year, Noblesville is adding something new to help keep students safe: dogs.
The district says funding from a referendum that passed last year will be used to pay for safety dogs.
Three Labrador Retrievers and their handlers will be used for all schools.
Noblesville leaders say the dogs are trained to detect the scent of firearms.
This is just one part of the district's overall safety plan, which has been in the spotlight after a student shot a classmate and teacher at Noblesville West Middle School in May 2018.
