INDIANAPOLIS — A north side Indianapolis food pantry is growing.

Ground was broken Tuesday for an expansion of the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry on Boulevard Place.

There's a growing need for the outreach, and the larger building will keep people from getting too cramped or waiting too long. "The need is huge, there are a lot of places that people can get food, they come here because they are comfortable, and we are not here to judge, we are just here to serve. And since the pandemic began, the need is huge," said Boulevard Panrty Board President Phyllis McNamara.

Attending the groundbreaking, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said the expansion will help the pantry get a better foothold in the community.
