NORTH VERNON — A cemetery in Jennings County is looking for volunteers to help place American flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day.

According to a Facebook post from the Vernon Cemetery, a group of volunteers are planning to arrive at the cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday to place flags, but anyone willing to help is welcome.

On Monday, the cemetery posted that due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it had not hired a full staff of workers for the holiday. Management planned to place Memorial Day flags on graves, but feared they would not get all 1,400 flags out before the weekend.

North Vernon is located about 70 miles south of Indianapolis.
