PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Students from elementary schools across the area made cards with messages of support and thanks to officers at the Southport Police Department and other officers in the county to let them know they were thinking about them.
The notes were placed on the cruisers of officers attending Lt. Aaron Allan’s funeral on Saturday as they sat outside Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Each note was specially made from a young student in the Perry Township School district with messages like “Thank you for coming when you are needed” and “Police are incredible.”
Fifth grader Lelah Estes said she enjoyed making the notes to honor the police officers and Lt. Allan.
“We wanted to honor him and we wanted to bring hope to the other police officers that were at his funeral,” said Estes. “So they can put them in their car windows and they can look at them whenever they are sad.”
