INDIANAPOLIS -- One person is dead and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on Indianapolis' west side on Tuesday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene at the intersection of W. Washington Street and McClure Street just before 6:30 p.m.

Police say a car driven by an elderly man was turning onto Washington Street when a truck slammed into it. Police believe the driver of the car may have been blinded by the setting sun and unable to see the truck.

The driver of the car was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died. His identity has not been released.

The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
