CRAWFORDSVILLE — Two people are dead and two others are seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash on I-74 in Montgomery County Monday afternoon.
Indiana State Police Sgt Kim Riley says an SUV and a box truck collided near US 231 in Crawfordsville.
One person in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people in the SUV were airlifted to Indianapolis in serious condition and one of them later died. The driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No identities have been released.
Sgt. Riley says the eastbound lanes of I-74 will remain closed while crews work to clear the scene. Traffic is being diverted onto the exit ramp at US 231 to SR 32 and around the crash site.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
