INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was killed and two men critically injured in a crash Tuesday morning on Indy's east side.
The accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Mitthoeffer.
Accident investigators from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department learned from witness statements that one car was headed north on Mitthoeffer when it crossed the center line and hit a car headed south head-on.
A male driver and elderly female passenger were in the car that was hit head-on. A male driver was the only person in the other car.
All three were taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition but the woman did not survive.
Investigators say they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but the driver of the northbound vehicle will be taken for a blood draw which is standard procedure in an accident involving a death.
The name of the victim will be released once next of kin has been notified.
