Arrest made in violent burglary in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS --  A man was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a violent robbery in Indianapolis.

Officers were called to the 600 block of N. Lyons on the west side just before 6:30 a.m.

Max Leath, 60, was beaten unconscious by thieves who stole money and valuables from his house.

Police arrested William Joerendt on preliminary charges of battery and robbery.

Joerendt is reportedly the boyfriend of Leath's niece.

She was not facing charges as of Monday night.
